THE DUNES 100

The Inaugural “Dunes 100” is where your limits will be tested throughout the challenging South Florida terrain of the beautiful Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter.

This race will consist, of 3 distances – The 100-Mile run, 50-Mile run or join your friends to conquer the 4 Person Team 100 Mile Relay for an unforgettable experience!

THE PARK

Located just south of Stuart, Florida, this park teems with wildlife in 13 natural communities, including sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, mangroves, river swamp and the Indian River. The Loxahatchee River, Florida’s first federally designated Wild and Scenic River, runs through the park.

Jupiter is rich in history: the earliest known records of the Jupiter Inlet date as far back as 1565. Jupiter’s most identifiable landmark, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, was erected in the 1800s. The stately red brick lighthouse continues to stand, ranging 105 feet into the sky, atop a 46-foot hill on the north shore of the Jupiter Inlet.     COURSE DESCRIPTION

    The name Dunes 100 is Inspired by the beautiful scrubs that have endless rolling white sugar sand. This course will take you on a journey from Pine Flatwoods to the scrubs where you will go face to face with the infamous “Dunes of Heaven” and Dunes of Hell”.

    The first 5 miles you will go through pine flat woods with hard packed dirt some roots and sand. You will cross 2 wooden bridges – Kitching Creek South and North. You will then run 2 miles through wetland prairie with another bridge crossing and you arrive into an imperial eco-system scrubs. Here you will go 7 miles through white beautiful sand dunes. Encounter the famous Dunes of Heaven and Dunes of Hell as you have views of the beautiful intercoastal.

    100-milers will complete 4x

    50-milers 2x

    There are 4 well-stocked aid stations along the course. Cut-off times for the aid stations do apply.
    WILL NOT STOCK CUPS OR BOTTLES – PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN HYDRATION DEVICE.

    Based on Way in Route – Runners will hit each AS twice.

  • Schedule Of Events
    Friday, February, 24th
    • 3:00pm -5:00pm – Packet pickup and mandatory Pre-Race portrait Photo 100 miler.
    Photo ID is required. Racer check-in and packet pickup. Packets must be picked up in person. They will not be mailed or given to others.
    • 5:30pm-6:30pm Mandatory Race meeting
    Up-to-date conditions, any changes in race rules or procedures and last-minute instructions will be provided. All 100 milers entrants are required to attend.
    •  6:30p.m. Carbo-loading dinner
    • Supply bag drops off
    Drop Bag Info 
    There are two locations for drop bags at the race. We recommend a waterproof bag or container or placing your items you don’t want wet into a plastic bags in case of rain. You may want food or nutrition items that are not offered at the aid station nutrition that you are used to training with. We also recommend bringing your lights, extra batteries, extra socks or shoes and layers of clothing (gloves, jacket, beanie, long sleeves, rain jacket, etc.) for the night section. We recommend labeling your drop bag with your name, bib number, and aid station location.
    Locations for drop bags will be:
    START AND FINISH
    TURNAROUND POINT, MILE 12.5.
    There will be a designated area for drop bags in the morning of the race.
    Please label your bag if you want it to be at the TURNAROUND POINT, MILE 12.5
    Saturday, February, 25th
    Start times
    • 6am: 100‐Mile, 50-mile, and 100-mile Relay
    • 50 Miler 7:00pm Award Ceremony.
    AWARDS CEREMONY
    Sunday, February, 26th
    Awards Ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Pavilion.
    • Participants who finish before the 24-hour cutoff will receive SUB 24HR Buckle.
    • Those that finish before the 30-hour cutoff will receive a Finisher Buckle.
  • Rules & Regulation

    Cut-Off:
    100 Mile Race will have a Cut-off of 30 hours.
    50 Mile Race will have a Cut-off of 16 hours.

    100 Mile 4 Person Relay will have a Cut-off of 30hrs.

    Checkpoints: Mile 12.5 and Mile 16.13

    As you pass through each checkpoint, please make sure you go over the timing mat.

    RULES AND REGULATIONS:

    1. NO LITTER. LEAVE NO TRACE

    AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION AND BANNED FROM ANY DTR RACE.
    The course must be in better shape then what we found it. Littering is absolutely against our principle and will not be tolerated.

    2. Stay on Course. If you get off course you must return on your own to the place where you got off and start over. I wish we didn’t have to add this to the rules as cheating is the worse thing someone can do, but if a race marshall catches a person (cheating) you will be banned from any future race that DTR hosts for life. Remember the real prize is in the memory of the achievement.

    RULES FOR CREW, PACERS, AND VEHICLES

    1. Pacer Rules:
    Runners can only have one pacer at a time. Pacer must register and sign the waiver at check-in. They will be given a pacer bib and must wear the bib at all times they are on the course.

    • 100 Mile Pacers allowed after runner completes his/her 2 loops. (50 Miles)
    • 50 Mile NO PACER
    • 100 Mile 4 Person Relay NO PACER

    2. Muling is not allowed. Athletes must carry their own bottles, Vest, food, headlamp.

    3. Crew/Vehicles
    Crewing is allowed only at these Aid Stations 12.47 Ranger Station and Turnaround point Start/Finish

    The crew is not mandator, but we strongly suggest you bring someone to crew for you during the race Dunes 100.
    Your crew is your personal responsibility.
    The race packet includes a map and directions to crew access points.
    Crews should become familiar with the locations of aid stations.

    WITHDRAWAL

    If, however, you do decide to withdrawal, please notify the nearest Aid Station/Checkpoint so we know you are no longer in the race and are accounted for. If you don’t notify a race official that you left the course, you will be responsible for all emergency search and rescue. All Emergency Evacuation costs for participants or crews will be borne by that person or their heirs. The race organizers are in no way liable or responsible for emergency evacuation.

    IMPORTANT LEGAL ISSUES

    All racers, crew members and volunteers must sign the Accident Waiver and Release of Liability / Release of Name and Illness . All athletes racing must complete the full form before race day.
